Forsythia's not in bloom?
I am not a big fisherman, but being a fourth generation Cape Codder I know something about stripers. Stripers as in "striped bass", the fish. Not the kind that that your friend says "she is really into me" as he goes broke.
This time of year the fisherman are always talking about Forsythias. Are they in bloom or not? I always ignored the reason why, but as a homeowner with a plethora of plants and bushes in my yard I inquired why its important to the fisherman. One of my friends told me that when the Forsythias bloom, the stripers are running. OK, I guess weather patterns could cause fish and plants to coincide with each other. But too much of a stretch. So we agreed it was an old wives tale.
But then he left it with the fact that is was Krokos that contained the real answer.
