Sweat Shops are Good

Wikipedia says; "Sweatshop is a pejorative term often used to describe a manufacturing facility that is physically or mentally abusive, or that crowds, confines, or compels workers, or forces them to work long and unreasonable hours, as would be the case with penal labor or slave labor."

With that definition, we understand that working in sweat shops is very unpleasant. I mean horrible. Its hard to imagine going to work for 12+ hours, working constantly, under the threat of losing your job, with no lunch or bathroom breaks, for very little money. Horrible....

However, look at the industrial revolution. The USA was a third world country. We had sweat shops everywhere. Sweat shops were critical for the development of this country. After many years of commerce and development with sweat labor, we live comfortably today. So we now have workers rights. Today, sweat shops in the USA are bad because they are not necessary. The USA should be grateful of where we are, because of our ancestors hard work. How we perceive sweat shops is relative to our life style.

So what right do we have to complain about sweat shops in third world countries? The reason workers go to sweat shops is to get money to feed their family. Where else are they going to get money? Let's throw sweat shop children in the mix. Where else are these children going to go? They would probably starve or just resort to prostitution. At least they making a living with a trade, and possibly learning the inside and out of an industry that will advance to a good future for themselves and their country.
