Trust
"Richard Nixon is gone now and I am poorer for it. He was the real thing--a political monster straight out of Grendel and a very dangerous enemy. He could shake your hand and stab you in the back at the same time. He lied to his friends and betrayed the trust of his family."
As I walk away from the worst car wreck of my life. It will take more years to get rid of this torment. I remember reading this a while back and did not understand it. Trust is not easy to come by, and if there is any doubt that you don’t have it, it’s probably a fair assessment.
And speaking of Hunter S. Thompson, I was talking with AWB about this last night,
"No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun -- for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax -- This won't hurt."
Gee 67, I still have 31 years to go. Until then, I would rather just fight or flight.
