Free Tibet? What?
Someone has to explain to me wtf is up with this "Free Tibet."
1) Search google and youtube videos for "Tibet Riots." Help me find one where the monks are getting attacked by the Han Chinese. Its all people in plain clothes terrorizing other plain clothes people or the Chinese officials. I have seen some snuff sites where they set Han Chinese on fire.
2) China was always in Tibet with a few exceptions in history.
3) 1912 to 1950 Tibet was a Feudal state. This era came with slavery and no civil rights. The quality of life was miserable. People were degraded and suffered. Will a free Tibet bring back this system of the middle ages?
4) Since 1951 China destroyed this old system, distributing the wealth. China has provided food and supplies that improved the regions quality of life. Even building a railway.
I have a friend that was in Tibet and was fascinated by the Tibetan monasteries. However, he was devastated when he went into town to see these people starving. This is today, and I can not imagine what it would be like without Chinese rule. However, some dope smoking kid that only knows Tibet from a bumper sticker on a hybrid has more knowledge of their plight?
I understand the ethnic problems. I understand that communism is a failure. INSTEAD; People should concentrate on the take down of all of the entire Chinese government.
Either way, I don't think Tibet would be better off independent.
