services.exe has high cpu
I had to get this out there. If your windows server is running piss poor, the "Event Log" stays in a starting state, and "services.exe" is running high; you have a corrupt event viewer file. I spend nearly 30 hours trying to fix this problem one weekend. Just recently I came upon it the other day, and fixed it within minutes. It's easy to fix.
Try this...
Or Just boot to a command prompt from the windows CD and rename or move the corrupt *.evt file from the following location:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Config
Its that simple! Just think of this first....
-do you care if you lose all your event log files?
-are you sure you don't have a virus?
-Are all services starting up?
Think about buying me a shot! Maybe even two :)
Try this...
1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Services.
2. Select the EventLog service and click Startup. Change the Startup Type to Disabled, and then click OK. If you are unable to log on to the computer but can access the registry remotely, you can change the Startup value in the following registry key to 0x4:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog
3. Restart Windows.
NOTE: When the system starts up, several services may fail; a message informing the user to use Event Viewer to review errors may appear.
4. Rename or move the corrupt *.evt file from the following location:
%SystemRoot%\System32\Config
5. In Control Panel Services tool, re-enable the EventLog service by setting it back to the default of Automatic startup, or change the registry Startup value back to 0x2.

These scammers have worse grammar then me.

Monster Cables are BS
In a forum I see a buddy of mine trying to sell his "Monster Cables." You know the type, you see them in every electronic store. Sales people try to get you to buy these when you purchase a new TV or audio equipment.
Well let me tell you something. They are a true rip off in the market. It is mysticism. Such magic wires would have found its way into the engineering mainstream where millions in research would have revealed the benefits. Again, this is consensus and not science.
Don't believe me? Do a double blind study. You will waste your time, because you already know the answer do you? Monster cables are a rip off!
This includes HDMI cables. Get the $7 one.

Aliens Cause Global Warming
Some good reading here.
My favorite parts...
And this guy wrote Jurassic Park, Westworld and The Andromeda Strain. Entertaining, but also very insightful stuff.
My favorite parts...
But I did not expect science merely to extend lifespan, feed the hungry, cure disease, and shrink the world with jets and cell phones. I also expected science to banish the evils of human thought---prejudice and superstition, irrational beliefs and false fears
There is no such thing as consensus science. If it's consensus, it isn't science. If it's science, it isn't consensus. Period.
Sooner or later, we must form an independent research institute in this country. It must be funded by industry, by government, and by private philanthropy, both individuals and trusts. The money must be pooled, so that investigators do not know who is paying them.

Geocaching in Brno
I found out there are a ton of geocaching sites in Brno. This city is getting better and better the more I read about it.
Can't wait to go to the zoo. But I will not see Dick, he "suffered a serious injury while mating" and died later.
Can't wait to go to the zoo. But I will not see Dick, he "suffered a serious injury while mating" and died later.
Dick, 11-year-old male, suffered a serious injury while mating. His bride" broke his arm bone. Doctors said he would have to be put out if the operation failed.
The operation seemed to have saved Dick's life, but the keepers unfortunately found him dead today, Cihal said.
An autopsy showed that the tiger died of bleeding in the digestive tract.
"It could have been caused by distress following the surgery," Cihal said, adding that more detailed tests will be known in a week.
Dick was operated on on March 29. The vets used metal and 14 screws to mend the broken bone and make it possible for the tiger to stand on the injured paw.
After Dick woke up, everything indicated that the goal was achieved. He started walking immediately.
Experts expected the first three weeks after the operation to be critical, mainly due to the pending danger of sepsis. Dick finally died of something entirely else, in a moment everyone believed that he has overcome the critical period.
Sumatran tigers, a rare species, are one of the Brno zoo's biggest attractions.

Vienna
Trip is booked to Vienna. And thanks to craigslist, we have a tour guide. She seems very nice. She has been key, so far, in getting us arrangements to and from Brno. So hopefully we will have a great time in Brno, and hope to visit the CZ factory in Uherský Brod. Or maybe we will end up like in the movie Hostel. Which supposedly took place about 30 miles from where we are going. Cool!

Liviu Librescu
Not only did this guy survive the holocaust, he saved students lives. Although he was shot and killed through a door he held shut; he was able to prevent the gunman from entering the classroom until his students escaped through windows.
Thanks to massbackwards for pointing out the importance of this photo over the ones you see today.

Right to Carry
I am very sorry to hear the news about the Virginia Tech shooting. Horrible. But whats very interesting, and I found this with very little research, there was a bill in the General Assembly that would of allowed college employees and students to carry legally. Why is this not over the press? This bill was rejected this year!
Link
Believe me, I am for peace. If someone can come up with a plan to make sure no gun exists anywhere on the planet, I will happily give mine up. But if this bill passed, maybe there would of been fewer dead students. Anti-Gun laws were wrong in this case.
Gun bill gets shot down by panel
HB 1572, which would have allowed handguns on college campuses, died in subcommittee.
By Greg Esposito
381-1675
A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.
House Bill 1572 didn't get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.
The bill was proposed by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gilbert was unavailable Monday and spokesman Gary Frink would not comment on the bill's defeat other than to say the issue was dead for this General Assembly session.
Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
Del. Dave Nutter, R-Christiansburg, would not comment Monday because he was not part of the subcommittee that discussed the bill.
Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."
The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.
Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.
In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities.

Voilent Nature
Last night about 2:30am i heard a loud bang. Sounded like either a gun or a quick lightning strike. Instead of getting up, I figured it was a busted tree and went back to sleep. And I was right. Not only does this thing weight about 400lbs, but its so big, that I will have to cut it up, then drag it. The picture does not do it justice.

Forum Buying

Today i got two things off two different forums today. Forums are cool to buy stuff. Almost as cool as craigslist or Ebay. Its been hailing and raining all day, and suppose to get worse, so what else am I gonna do?
I wanted a revolver, so i bought a .38 Special. When I see anti-gun media portray this gun, I think that it should come with the book "Catcher in the Rye." It will be a good plinker for now. I see why people would carry this for reliability, but i still prefer the semi. More rounds!
The other toy is a scanner. Older one, but it gets some frequencies. The BPD, CB, Weather, VHF, Etc... I am still new to scanning. but its a cool toy to have.

Me and Merle
Yeah, this guy is still around. GG Allin's brother, and now owner of the GG Allin empire. GG Allin is so freaking funny. I am actually glad GG is dead, he is less harmful and more entertaining now.More GG Vids here....
GG ALLIN
You know, on St. Patrick's day I had the opportunity to see Drop Kick Murphy's. I passed it up because I had already seen them two or three times. But it would of been cool. I am sure I would of been all messed up from alcohol and violence. Instead I stayed home and watched nature channels in HD. My High school Gym teacher called me a "Daisy Picker." Forward to 20 years later, I just figured out why he called me that.
So now I am making up for it by watching GG Allin Videos. This is one of his lame ones.
Awareness Ribbon's are BS
I never understood these Awareness Ribbons. They do nothing but make the person wearing them feel better. Better because they are not doing anything, but they think they are. Better because they are smug, they care and you don't. Same thing with Internet petitions. Reminds me of hippies thinking that smoking pot, listening to anti-war songs, and just complaining about authority will change the world. What BS.

I am not the Walrus

A lie.
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
Of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—
And whether pigs have wings."
When I do something wrong, I lose sleep. However, I wonder about other hateful people that are uncontrollably in my life. I am always reminded of this Walrus quote. Sometimes, I think maybe the Walrus really believed that what he was saying was true. But after careful thought, the Walrus knew he was lying. People live by standards that they set themselves, and there is little excuse for any poor acts committed upon yourself, your loved ones, or your fellow humans. I believe myself to be of good nature, with flaws that I will struggle with for the rest of my life. I have always prided myself on being honest. However, the Walrus lied, knew it, and he got what he wanted. What precedence does that set for me and my fellow man?
The Duchess from Alice in Wonderland said "every thing's got a moral, if only you can find it."
Disclaimer; I am not making GW references here. I truly understand that he did believe WMD's were in Iraq. Saddam's military leaders were still threatening the Kurdish people with WMD's up until we invaded Iraq the second time. But today, maybe he knows that the only way to control Iraq is to leave, and keep bombing them into the stone age until they can get it right on their own. But publicly he says he wants to help the Iraqi people. I will deal with this topic in another post.

My Uncle George
I have this crazy uncle named George, whom I love dearly. He use to have long hair, smoke pot, not shower, collect freaking rocks, and drive a VW bus. Real hippie like. Well now his head shaved, he has a job, takes a shower, has a few guns for killin', a computer, and a good ole boy right wing attitude. I guess it seems that kids start out as radical left wing, but as you get older you start moving to the right. I was smart and went right to Reagan when I was a kid. Man that guy was awesome. I grew up faster.
But this ass never returns my calls. Wuss. Maybe he can meet me at 8:30pm on CS:S 69.9.38.156:27015?

House broken into, kid thinks it OK.
I can not tell you how violated I feel. Every year, at this time, my house gets broken into. I have tried everything to stop to this, but the impending results are always the same. What happens is a "large rabbit" obtains access to my house and scatters eggs everywhere. He also leaves a model of himself in chocolate form. My daughter finds this hilarious, I find myself a victim of a home invasion. No theft, just vandalism.
Somehow this is tied to the resurrection of Christ. The best explanation I got is from South park EP1105. It explained that a secret society called "The Hare Club For Men" kept the tradition alive. History will not forget St. Peter as a rabbit instead of as a man (Peter Rabbit). No human can speak for all of christianity without being corrupted.

Sweat Shops are Good
Wikipedia says; "Sweatshop is a pejorative term often used to describe a manufacturing facility that is physically or mentally abusive, or that crowds, confines, or compels workers, or forces them to work long and unreasonable hours, as would be the case with penal labor or slave labor."
With that definition, we understand that working in sweat shops is very unpleasant. I mean horrible. Its hard to imagine going to work for 12+ hours, working constantly, under the threat of losing your job, with no lunch or bathroom breaks, for very little money. Horrible....
However, look at the industrial revolution. The USA was a third world country. We had sweat shops everywhere. Sweat shops were critical for the development of this country. After many years of commerce and development with sweat labor, we live comfortably today. So we now have workers rights. Today, sweat shops in the USA are bad because they are not necessary. The USA should be grateful of where we are, because of our ancestors hard work. How we perceive sweat shops is relative to our life style.
So what right do we have to complain about sweat shops in third world countries? The reason workers go to sweat shops is to get money to feed their family. Where else are they going to get money? Let's throw sweat shop children in the mix. Where else are these children going to go? They would probably starve or just resort to prostitution. At least they making a living with a trade, and possibly learning the inside and out of an industry that will advance to a good future for themselves and their country.

Forsythia's not in bloom?
I am not a big fisherman, but being a fourth generation Cape Codder I know something about stripers. Stripers as in "striped bass", the fish. Not the kind that that your friend says "she is really into me" as he goes broke.
This time of year the fisherman are always talking about Forsythias. Are they in bloom or not? I always ignored the reason why, but as a homeowner with a plethora of plants and bushes in my yard I inquired why its important to the fisherman. One of my friends told me that when the Forsythias bloom, the stripers are running. OK, I guess weather patterns could cause fish and plants to coincide with each other. But too much of a stretch. So we agreed it was an old wives tale.
But then he left it with the fact that is was Krokos that contained the real answer.

Murder Rate
Hear me out...
I saw this from congresss.org when stumbling upon random links....
95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens
83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens
86% of warrants for murder in Albuquerque are for illegal aliens
This got me thinking. So i searched more. The total murders in 2005 by illegal aliens in the USA was 703 (fbi.gov). That same year 846 US troops died in Iraq. (icasualties.org)
There has got to be a system in place for people to move into this country. Illegal immigration as a whole has to stop. Our troops are getting disrespect from protesters, but are still dying proud. Civilians, which includes children and mothers, are dying on American soil due to illegal immigrants. We need to start by stopping the flow of illegals.
Someone please correct me, this is fact based with zero bias.

Geocaching
I set up my first (and probably only) geocache yesterday. I set it in East Sandwich where i grew up. I always loved the area. Its a short hike with a nice view of the marsh. There were a few other caches near by, but I wanted to just set this here for historical purposes.
I will be writing an article on Talbot's point history. Posting it here and in Wikipedia.
